Last October–December, a total of 17,600 households received child home care allowance in the Helsinki region, which is 4 per cent less than during the same period in the previous year. The number of the allowance recipients decreased both in Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa as well as in the KUUMA municipalities. Numbers of children are also going down
Over the past years, the number of families receiving child home care allowance has been on the decline in the Helsinki region. The number of children under three years of age has also decreased, but not quite in proportion to the number of allowance recipients.
