Increased migration gain in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area
The Helsinki region had a migration gain of 3,833 people in October–December, which was 600 more than in the last quarter of the previous year. The migration gain to the Helsinki Metropolitan Area grew by 440 people and to the KUUMA municipalities by 40 per cent.
In October–December, Helsinki had a migration gain of 680 people, Espoo 1,315, Vantaa 1,165 and KUUMA municipalities 657 people. Finland outside the Helsinki region obtained a migration gain of just 300 people.
Migration gain in the Helsinki region decreased by 1,100 last year, which is caused by the migration gain in Helsinki decreasing by almost 3,200. Migration gain in Vantaa grew by 43 per cent, in Espoo by 18 per cent and in the KUUMA municipalities by 31 per cent. More than 80 per cent of the migration gain in Helsinki and Vantaa was from foreign citizens, 75 per cent in the entire region.
