Migration gain from foreign nationals increased
In January–March, over 2,800 more foreign nationals moved to the Helsinki region than away from it. The migration gain from foreign nationals increased by 250 people when compared to the corresponding period the year before due to increasing incoming migration. The migration gain for other parts of the country grew only slightly.
In January−March, migration gain from foreign nationals totalled 830 people in Helsinki, 800 people in Espoo and Vantaa and 390 people in the KUUMA municipalities.
The migration gain from foreign nationals has increased by nearly 30 per cent in Espoo and the KUUMA municipalities at the beginning of the year, compared to the corresponding period in 2019. In Vantaa, the migration gain increased only slightly while declining in Helsinki. Foreign nationals migrate to the Helsinki region from other parts of Finland as well as from abroad.
