Fewer new cars were registered in 2022 compared with the previous year
In 2022, a total of 16,500 new cars were registered in Helsinki, which is 11 per cent less than during the previous year. In the whole country, 96,600 new cars were registered, which is 16 per cent less than in the previous year.
In October–December 2022, the number of new registered vehicles decreased by approximately 2 per cent in Helsinki and 3 per cent in the entire country compared with the corresponding period in the previous year. A total of 4,280 new cars were registered in Helsinki and 22,770 in Finland in October–December.
Drop in first registration of vehicles
The market for new vehicles crashed in the second quarter of 2020 due to the COVID-19 crisis. In the second quarter of 2021, the number of new registered vehicles started to grow strongly, but after that, the number of registrations took a new downturn.
