Consumer expectations for unemployment trends

Confidence in positive employment trends improved slightly

Consumer expectations for the development of the employment situation in Finland over the next 12 months are still weak, but better than before. In February, the balance figure for employment trends was -15.8 in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area and -13.9 in Finland as a whole. Despite the weak figures, expectations for employment trends are now somewhat better than at the end of 2022. Compared with the most negative months during the COVID-19 pandemic, this indicator has improved significantly. The relatively long-term improvement of the employment rate is likely to affect so that people do not see unemployment as a particular problem area in the near future.
