Sales in trade increased in the last quarter of 2022
Sales in the Helsinki region increased by 8.8 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2022 compared to the corresponding period in the previous year. However, the increase in sales in euros can be fully explained by the increase in prices. In fact, the volume of sales in trade decreased slightly in late 2022. The downturn occurred in the last quarter of the year. Rapid inflation is now eroding the purchasing power of consumers, reducing consumption and the sales in trade.
