The downward trend in facility vacancy rates has halted
The vacancy rates of commercial and office premises in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area went up slightly in July–December last year compared to earlier in the year. On the other hand, the vacancy rates of manufacturing and storage facilities decreased. According to Catella Property Oy, in July–December the vacancy rate was 2.8 per cent for commercial premises, 13.1 per cent for office premises and 4.6 per cent for manufacturing and storage facilities. Nearly 1.6 million square metres of premises were vacant in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area.
The vacancy rates went up particularly in Helsinki over July–December last year. In Vantaa, the number of vacant premises continued to go down, and Espoo also saw improved vacancy rates for commercial and office premises compared to earlier in the year.
The vacancy rates of office and commercial premises in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area had been increasing over the past few years, but then took a downward turn in 2017.
