Housing prices continued to decrease in Finland

The prices of old housing company dwellings continued to decrease in the last quarter of 2022. In the whole country, the prices of old dwellings decreased by -3.2 per cent from the previous quarter and by -4.1 per cent from the previous year. In the last quarter of the year, the decrease in prices became more strongly evident also in large dwellings. The decrease in prices covered dwellings of all sizes in all major cities and other locations across Finland.

Prices fell particularly sharply in Helsinki

In the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, the prices of old dwellings in blocks of flats fell particularly strongly in Vantaa, where the year-on-year decrease was -6.6 per cent. The prices fell from the previous year also in Helsinki, with the decrease amounting to -5.5 per cent. The decrease was more moderate in Espoo and Kauniainen. In these areas, the prices decreased by -2.4 per cent. In KUUMA municipalities, the decrease from the previous year was -2.0 per cent. Compared to the previous quarter, the prices of old dwellings in blocks of flats continued to decline sharply in the Helsinki region. In the last quarter, the decrease amounted to -3.4 per cent from the previous quarter in Helsinki. The decrease was -2.1 per cent in Espoo and -4.2 per cent in Vantaa. In the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, the decrease amounted to -3.3 per cent. In KUUMA municipalities, the prices decreased by -3.6 per cent from the previous quarter.
