Male unemployment rate decreased from the previous year

According to the sample-based Labour Force Survey conducted by Statistics Finland, the unemployment rate of women living in the Helsinki region was 0.2 percentage points higher at the end of June compared to the previous year. At the same time, the unemployment rate of men decreased by 1.1 percentage points. The unemployment rate of women decreased by slightly less than one percentage point in the entire country.

The unemployment rate of men higher than that of women

In the second quarter of 2019, the unemployment rates of men and women were 7.2 per cent and 7.7 per cent in the Helsinki region, respectively. In all of Finland, the percentage of unemployed in the labour force was 8.2 per cent for men and 7.1 per cent for women.
