Female unemployment rate decreased

According to the sample-based Labour Force Survey conducted by Statistics Finland, the unemployment rate of women living in the Helsinki region was 1.9 percentage points lower at the end of June compared to the previous year. At the same time, the male unemployment rate increased by 0.6 percentage points. Nationally, both the male and female unemployment rates decreased sharply from last year.

The unemployment rate of men higher than that of women

In the past years, the male unemployment rate in particular has been on the decline, and the male and female unemployment rates have been close to each other in the Helsinki region. However, at the end of June, the unemployment rate of men was 8.8 per cent and that of women 7.0 per cent. In all of Finland, the percentage of the unemployed in the labour force was 8.4 per cent for men and 7.9 per cent for women.
